Children Choir

The Children Choir is an opportunity for children to sing in a choir for Sunday Mass. This choir is open to children in third grade and older. The children will be singing in English and Latin using both modern music notation and modern chant notation. This choir is a volunteer choir which means that the children will be working with other children who want to sing in choir. The choir will rehearse on Wednesdays from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm in the Parish School Building (see the Rehearsal & Mass Schedule below). The children need to attend at least one rehearsal in each set of four rehearsals for a Sunday Mass to sing for that Mass. Children may join the choir anytime during the year. Please feel free to share this registration form with other interested families.
Children who are participating in leadership roles today will become our leaders tomorrow. Children who are participating in music ensembles are learning the ability to be a team player, the ability to concentrate, the ability to be self confident, and the ability to be a leader. These are all transferable skills to other human activity.
Daniel Victoor is the Music Director at Ss. Peter & Paul RC Church. He has a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in voice from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He has worked at various churches within Canada and the United States. Before accepting a one year contract with Sacred Heart Academy as the Choirmaster and moving to Grand Rapids, he worked for 18 years at St. Gregory the Great Church in Amherst, NY which has over 5000 families gaining experience with many types of ensembles including children choirs.
