Youth Faith Formation

Welcome to SS. Peter and Paul CCD home page.

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations…Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you. And know that I am with you always, until the end of time.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

It is our mission at SS. Peter and Paul to help teach the children how to become disciples of Jesus.  We want them to learn what it means to be a disciple and the importance of sharing the love of Jesus with others.

The children will learn about the Mass, the Sacraments and how to become an active Catholic in today’s sometimes difficult world. We hope to foster an understanding of the Catholic Church and share this understanding with others that have the same morals and share the same belief.

Our classes meet once a month on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.  All children in Kindergarten through 8th grade are encouraged to join us.  Each class is age appropriate and includes preparation for the Sacraments.  It is important for the children to attend class each week and just important for the parents to share with the children what they learn each week.  Parents are the primary educators of their children, and what they learn at CCD should be discussed and shared on a regular basis.

K – 1st grade:  The children will learn about the many gifts God has given us as well as God as our creator.  They will also learn how Jesus shows us God’s love and how we can share that same love with others.

2nd grade:  First Reconciliation and First Communion Preparation:  Children in 2nd grade will be prepared for their First Reconciliation and their first reception of the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion.  We will help them learn the importance of asking for forgiveness and to give forgiveness.  Through scripture and teaching of the elements of the celebration of the Eucharist children are led to participate actively in the Mass.

3rd – 4th grade: The children will review what they have learned about Jesus and the receiving of Him through the Holy Eucharist. They will focus much of their time on the Ten Commandments.

Jr. High (5th – 8th):  The Jr. High classes will focus on Jesus’ life, his teachings and the sacraments he instituted.  They will also learn the mission of the church and how it is the responsibility of all baptized Catholics.  Children in 8th grade will prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  They will learn the importance of being sealed with the Spirit and how it strengthens the grace receive at Baptism.
